A variety of sheep and
numerous goats are housed in the Bear Creek Pioneers Park Wildlife
Exhibit. The Suffolk sheep have black legs and faces. This is the type of sheep
commonly found in 4-H and FFA projects. There are also domestic goats housed in the sheep and goat exhibit.
Most goats are naturally horned, but many sheep breeds are polled (naturally
hornless). Sheep are grazers, goats are browsers. That means sheep are probably better
weed eaters, since they eat grasses and other plants all the way down to the
ground. Goats, on the other hand, nibble here and there, sampling a variety of
bushes and leaves. |
