George Herman

Nottingham Park is situated on some of the land the late philanthropist George Hermann left in trust for Hermann Hospital. Hermann bought this property from J. J. Settegast in 1903. It passed to the Hermann Hospital Estate when Hermann died in 1914. The city of Houston bought this 22 and 1/2 acres from the hospital estate and created the park in 1966.

Harris County Commissioner’s Court, in June, 2004, gave its approval to an agreement providing for Harris County Precinct 3 to take over responsibility for maintaining and operating this park.  Precinct 3 has since added a walking trail, wrought iron fencing, new playground equipment and a splash park.
