The American Shooting Centers (ASC), located in George Bush Park, is a world-class facility encompassing 564 acres. The ASC is open to the public and has three different ranges. The Rifle and Pistol range is open daily. The Sporting Clays and Trap & Skeet ranges are open Wednesday through Sunday only. The facility is located in Barker Reservoir and operates through a concession agreement with Harris County. |
| The ASC has hosted several popular special events, namely the Browning Bailey World Open for the third year in a row and the 1997 US Open Sporting Clay events. The ASC was scheduled to host the Olympics if Houston had been awarded the games for the year 2012. | |
| The ASC complex includes three different types of shooting ranges, three pro shops, three restroom buildings, an air-conditioned pavilion, a classroom where hunter education classes are taught and more. | |
|
Currently employing sixty people and managed by Mr. Bill Bacon, retired colonel, the ASC enjoys a thriving business. |
