In 1991, Harris County purchased a building for approximately half a million dollars at 3599 Westcenter in the Westchase area. The building previously housed a finance company. Commissioner Radack completely renovated the building and converted it to a new community center for Precinct 3.
The Commissioner named the new center for Tracy Gee, a young woman who was murdered by a carjacker. Tracy Gee was 22 when she was shot to death as she drove home from work early in the morning of September 5, 1990. Commissioner Radack said that he felt criminals too often get publicity while crime victims are forgotten. He said he believed it was important that young Tracy be remembered.
The Tracy Gee Community Center was dedicated to the memory of this young woman and opened to the public September 17, 1993.
Lionell Rodriguez, Tracy’s killer, was sentenced to death and executed in June 07.
