The Texas Legislature has taken significant steps toward meaningful environmental crime prosecution with its passage of legislation outlining offenses in the areas of air pollution, water pollution, and the illegal disposal of solid waste. The new law amends the Water Code and Health and Safety Code and creates offenses which will empower prosecution in the battle to clean up the environment.
REPORTING ILLEGAL WASTE DUMPING
To report illegal waste dumping, call the Precinct 3 Environmental Enforcement Division at (281) 463-4619.
The following details illustrate the type of information helpful to an investigation:
- When did the incident occur? (Time of day or night you witnessed the activity.)
- Where did the incident take place?
- How many people were in the vehicle? (Maintain a safe distance, but any general description of race, sex, and approximate age are helpful.)
- What kind of vehicle was involved?
- Pickup, dump truck, flatbed, van, etc; with or without a trailer.
- License number of the vehicle. Write it down as soon as possible. Accuracy is important!
- Make of vehicle - Ford, Chevy, Dodge, etc.
- Color and any distinguishing marks of the vehicle.
- Direction the vehicle was traveling.
